Stacking The Shelves| AUG 09
Stacking the Shelves, hosted by Reading Reality, is a weekly feature about sharing the books you add to your shelves, whether physical or virtual. You can include books you buy in physical stores or online, books you borrow from friends or the library, review books, gifts, and ebooks!
Another week of book haul for me. I think this will be it for a while (unless I see something interesting again). 😂 It's hard to resist a good deal when books are the temptation.😁
When I was in college many years ago, I had a copy of Leo Buscaglia's wonderful book, but somehow I lost it and I don't remember how. Good thing, I stumbled upon it online last month and a bonus (forgot to include the photo here), the "Loving Each Other: The Challenge of Human Relationships" was also available for purchase. I add them both to the cart without hesitation. 😂 When I received these two books as I slowly unwrapped them, memories started flooding my mind.
I was 18 again, I'm in the campus library with my school friends, trying to silently read and do our assignments while whispering random info to each other, while Leo's book was slightly tucked in my bag with my other books resting on the chair next to me. Can't help but smile as I remember this moment. Books really have that power to transport you back to the past.
I first encountered Louis de Bernieres' book when I saw my Psychology professor reading it in our classroom as she waited for my other classmates to arrive. I was instantly drawn to its book cover and how the title, Captain Corelli's Mandolin sounds so nice as it rolls off my tongue. The book was on my mind the whole day. I remember promising myself to look for it that afternoon in my favorite secondhand book shop near our campus. And today, I am questioning myself, why I didn't have a copy until now. Looking forward to reading his books. How about you? What book title sounds nice to you?
Aw, what a fun post! I love that the books triggered such happy memories for you. Have a great week!
