BIG BAD WOLF 2024 (GLORIETTA, MAKATI)
Last June 20, My mom, sister, and her children decided to brave the city traffic(for some miracle, there's no traffic) and went to Glorietta to spend the day buying books at Big Bad Wolf with one of my dear friends, ms. L who happened to have a seminar near the area of BBW event.
This is not the first book fair I attended, but my first BBW, and I love it so much. I love how everything is displayed but there's one thing I really don't like.
For someone in my age bracket, bending down to get something can strain muscles easily. And a strained muscle is literally pain overload. Most of the books I bought were displayed on the lower part of the table. I had difficulty bending over several times and the worst thing happened, I dropped the books I was carrying and ended up on the floor. I was alone at that time. My family was roaming around and Ms. L was still in her seminar. Everybody was busy including the staff who assist customers. So, I slowly picked up the books one by one, and there, I felt the pain in my lower back. as if on cue, my family suddenly appeared and asked me if we could have lunch because it was already lunchtime. Told them, "Sure, let me pay this first" while holding the books and enduring the pain at the same time.
While my sister and mom were looking for a place where we could have lunch, my friend messaged me that she was almost done and would be there soon with us. Told my family that after we had our lunch they could roam again as I accompanied my friend to have her lunch.
At around 1 pm, she arrived and told me she wanted to treat me with ramen. I said yes because I still have space on my stomach for noodles. LOL. It's been a month or two since we last saw each other and I really miss her and our chaotic conversation about everything.
After we had our filling lunch, we needed to go back to the BBW activity area so she could cross out the books she wanted on her to-buy book list. Of course, by the end of our shopping spree, she was able to strike off all the books on her list and by my encouragement Added a few more books.
We ended our day by having an early dinner and a quick stop to Bread talk for pasalubong (my family went home early as my niece and nephew were getting tired already and about to have a tantrum).
It was a nice experience and I'm looking forward to another BBW bookfair.
p.s. for 4 books, I paid 1060.00 pesos. Not bad for brand-new and hard-to-find book titles at our local bookstores here in the Philippines.
