IS IT FOMO?

Ever since I started scrapbooking, I have always wanted to buy the latest products in the market. Pre-order is my favorite activity. It gives me that certain high knowing that after waiting for a few weeks, a knock on our door will be heard and a delivery guy will hand over to me a box full of new goodies. It feels like I'm in craft supplies heaven.

After a while, I questioned myself if this was even normal and that is where I first heard the word FOMO or Fear of missing out. I read a few articles and even consulted a few friends in my field of expertise and came out with a better understanding of my situation. I am definitely not experiencing FoMO as I don't look at what others are having and end up experiencing social anxiety for not having it. Most of the time, I'm not even aware of what my crafty friends have in their craft rooms or spaces because I don't ask them unless I need them for my projects.

I concluded that what made me love having new supplies are the following:

  • New products inspire me to make new projects.
  • New products inspire me to mix together supplies. It made me go outside my comfort zone and just play with it.
  • Just like any products on the market, I believe in using them before they expire
  • I love the idea of looking at my past projects and knowing what year it is based on the materials I used at that time.

New supplies, make me happy. It taught me not to want it all, instead, I just the things I needed.
