Fruit salad is a traditional party food dessert here in the Philippines. The usual ingredients: canned fruit cocktail, condensed milk, and Nestle cream. There's nothing simpler than this dessert because you only need a canned opener, a bowl, and a spoon to mix them all together. Every Filipino mom/wife/Aunt/grandmother has their version of this easy dessert. In my case, I don't. This dessert is too sweet for my taste plus I prefer to have my fruits fresh rather than canned. I omitted the essential ingredients and turned this fruit salad into something else. The strawberry-calamansi dressing surprisingly made this salad interesting.
Ingredients:
Ham Lyoner, sliced into strips
Sweet Frisee Lettuce
Green Kiwi, sliced
Apple, chopped
For Strawberry-Calamansi Dressing:
Strawberry Jam
Calamansi Juice
Instructions:
Combine all dressing ingredients in a container then mix. Refrigerate. Soak lettuce in ice water for 10 or 15 minutes. Remove the lettuce from the water and dry it in a salad spinner. Mix Ham, fruits & lettuce in a bowl. Add the dressing by the spoonful and toss to desired taste.
