Book Read: The Twelve Days of Christmas

I picked up The Twelve Days of Christmas because I wanted to read at least one Christmas-themed story. It's fairly predictable, but it just makes you feel good and warm inside. It has everything a Christmas should have: crazy families and lots of food.

The story revolves around Holly, a young widow who doesn't celebrate Christmas due to bad memories of what happened to her around Christmas time. When she is asked by her boss at the house-sitting agency she works for if she would like to look after a remote house in Lancashire, she jumps at the chance for an escape from the surrounding festivities.

Each chapter starts with an extract from her grandmother's journal that leaves Holly wondering. Food was a central theme throughout the novel. The book was certainly festive and I really enjoyed the plot.
